Ah coffee, a topic I could write and talk about for hours. Obsessed much? I may have a little problem..but it’s a tasty one.
I would just like to disclose that as an associate, I receive commissions through purchases made in this post.
So now that we’ve established you can drink coffee as a new mom, lets dive into what coffees you could be drinking.
There is so much to know about coffee and what makes each bean so unique. For those that don’t know, whole coffee beans offer much more freshness and flavour than those ground. Read more in depth about the coffee bean here.
It’s always fun looking for a new coffee to try, but I know not everyone thinks that way. To me, coffee is an escape. I love finding new flavours and blends. Trying them in my french press, espresso machine, up, Kcup or just good ol’ drip. Every day calls for trying something new.
Of course, now that I have a little one running around, I don’t always get to try something new. Fast is sometimes a necessity. Most days it’s throw a pod in the Kcup and away we go. It makes me really appreciate the days I get to relax and actually enjoy my morning coffee.
I found, no matter what the day has in store for you, there’s always a coffee for it. Running late in the morning? Kcup. Have more than 5 minutes in the morning? French press or drip. Need an afternoon pick me up? Espresso. Enjoying the heat outside? Cold brew. And of course there are many more options out there, those are just my personal favourites.
Not everyone knows what makes a coffee good, so for all those moms who don’t know where to even begin to look for a good coffee, you’ve come to the right place. I have always loved a good cup of coffee and over the years have learnt a few things about what can make it a good cup. So I’ve made a list of a few of the best coffees for a new mom.
1. KOA Coffee
Known as one of the top coffees of the world, it really is a must try… At least once.
Although it’s one of the more expensive coffees, it does makes up for it in flavour. Since it does fall on the expensive side you may want to consider something a little cheaper if you’re planning to drink multiple cups daily.
They do offer subscriptions which can save some money in the long run, if you do end up falling in love with this coffee.
Ranging around 54 MG of caffeine in a medium roast, as a new mom you can have a couple cups without having to worry about surpassing the recommended limit while breastfeeding. Bonus for us mom’s who lived on coffee before we got pregnant, and maybe still do.

- Low acidic
Cons

2. Lifeboost Coffee
Lifeboost is a very low acidic coffee which makes it good for anyone with a sensitive stomach. While I was pregnant I wasn’t able to eat everything I wanted to, so having something a little easier on the stomach was a must. Even though it’s low acidic, it still has plenty of flavour.
It doesn’t mix as well with cream and sugar, but it makes an amazing cold brew.
They also offer subscriptions if you absolutely love their coffee and want to be a recurring customer.
Origin
Nicaraguan mountains
Flavour/Roast
They offer plenty of types ranging from light to dark roast, with so many flavours. They also offer plenty of decaf flavours as well which is a really nice touch.
The coffee comes in both whole bean and ground.
Their medium roast caffeine content ranges from 89-95 MG.

3. Coopers Cask Coffee
Miss the days when you could have a shot of whiskey? I used to enjoy sipping a good whiskey or bourbon from time to time. This is a nice little cup of flavoured whiskey in a coffee. It’s not quite as strong as you would think a whiskey coffee would be, but it still has an interesting flavour.
They use whiskey and rum barrels to flavour their coffee instead of the usual syrup. It is more of a natural flavour.
Origin
Sumtra, Kenya, Ethiopia & Rwanda.

4. Kicking Horse Coffee
This is my go to everyday coffee. I absolutely love the taste of the dark roast, as its extremely bold and flavourful. I personally like a really strong dark coffee, but there are many varieties to help you find the right flavour best suited for you.
It has a higher caffeine content ranging around 120 MG per cup, so you won’t want to have too many of these if you’re a new mom planning to breastfeed.
Origin
Peru, Colombia, Sumatra, East Timor, Uganda, Guatemala Nicaragua, Mexico, Honduras and Ethiopia.

They offer everything from light to dark roast, as well as decaf. They also have fun names like Smart Ass Medium, Holy Crap! Decaf, and many more.
